Motorcycle Trackers

Thatcham approved motorbike trackers, fitted at your home or work.

A motorbike can be lifted straight into a van, so a disc lock or an alarm only buys time. A tracker is what gets the bike back. We fit two trackers for motorcycles, and our engineer comes to your home or workplace to do it at no extra cost.

Which motorbike tracker do I need?

Start with your insurer. If your policy names a Thatcham category, that decides it.

  • Datatool Stealth S5, £349 fitted. A category S5 tracker with Automatic Driver Recognition. You carry a small tag, and if the bike moves without it the monitoring centre knows straight away. Built for high-value bikes and for policies that ask for S5.
  • ScorpionTrack Quantum3 S7, £249 fitted. A category S7 tracker that runs on its own batteries, up to three years from two AA lithium cells, so nothing is wired into the bike. Arm it when the bike is parked and you get a call if it moves. It suits bikes that stand for weeks or go into winter storage.

S5 or S7 for a motorbike?

An S7 tracker is monitored and shows where the bike is. An S5 tracker adds driver recognition, so a theft is flagged the moment the bike moves without your tag, not when you notice it has gone. Insurers tend to ask for S5 on higher-value bikes. Not sure? Ring us with your policy details and we will tell you which one meets it.

What fitting involves

The Stealth is wired in and hidden under the bodywork, so a thief cannot see it or pull it out quickly. The Quantum3 needs no wiring and is tucked out of sight. Once it is in, the engineer shows you the app and hands over the certificate your insurer may ask for.

Both trackers need a monitoring subscription to work, and you can split the price into four interest-free payments.

Motorbike tracker questions

  • Will a tracker drain my motorbike battery?

The Quantum3 does not touch the bike’s battery, because it runs on its own cells. If your bike stands for months at a time, that makes it the simpler choice.

  • Will a tracker lower my bike insurance?

Some insurers give a discount for a Thatcham tracker, and some insist on one for high-value bikes. It varies, so ask your insurer which category they want before you buy.

  • Do I need a subscription?

Yes. The subscription pays for the monitoring centre and the app. Without it the tracker does not report.
